Glitches on track load

One of the main problems that is holding me back from using meta.dj for sets is the glitching on track loads. This doesn’t occur every time, but it seems after running the app for a little while, some track loads (mp3s) cause a short dropout in the audio.

I am in the habit of closing all running apps before launch, so the memory should be as free as is possible. I’m running the app on an iPad 2.

Please look for a fix to this issue in meta.DJ 1.2 for iPad or the 1.0 version for iPhone.

Sorry but I’m on iPad version 1.2 and I have the same problem. The description is very precisely my issue - when I have one TrackDeck playing and load a second, the first TrackDeck will stop playing for a second or two. This is so whether or not there are Looptastic or SaMPL3Rs or Drumtrons going at the same time. They won’t be affected, just the active TrackDeck.

I discovered the problem when I’d just put a bunch of new tracks in iTunes expressly to use in Meta.DJ. On the first load, of course, the program has to calculate BPM, and that almost always causes this glitch. What I was surprised to learn was that it also happens with tracks that already have assigned BPMs.

It always happens at the end of the load, never in the middle or at the beginning.

The program is utterly killer otherwise.

Thanks for the response. I will have someone look into the matter further.

What kind of tracks are you running exactly? MP3? AAC? What BPMs are you typically dealing with?

Thank you.

Hi,

Are you using the tracks by dragging them up as a Snapshot or by loading them via the iTunes browser into a Track Deck already there in the work area/mix zone?

I would suggest trying to use Snapshots as then you can preassign the effects (EQ, level, delays, filter, etc.) you want for that track as well having the pre-analyzed track there.

Thanks,

I use MP3s, pretty well exclusively though the occasional M4a also slips in there.

Pre-loading the tracks is a good workaround, though it does cut into the on the spot improv quality which makes this such an awesome app. I can offer a further workaround - load up half a dozen songs while using just the other modules - Looptastic, etc - since these don’t seem to have the same audio cut-out during track load. That way at least, there’s multiple options at any given time, and you only have to think ahead once every half hour or so.
