When I have a song in sync mode on a TrackDeck and then switch to non-sync mode there is a noticeable drop in sound quality - it is still in stereo but not as “crisp”. Is that supposed to happen?

The song appears to sound clearer in sync mode. I am using monitor speakers to test this.

If your master tempo is the same as the track’s original tempo, you should hear no difference between sync and non sync mode. When you are changing tempo, there will be some subtle differences between sync and not sync mode. At the same time, they should both sound clear and crisp.

Could you give a specific example please?

I’ve noticed this too - there’s a kind of granular echo, almost like a reverb? It’s more noticeable on some tracks than others, I had one track that basically had a slapback echo! Will encoding mp3’s at higher bitrates help this? I tried a wav file and meta.dj wouldn’t open it but I’m rencoding that file at 320kbps to see what happens…

Edit - didn’t make any difference. I think what’s happening is that sync mode is emphasising a sound that isn’t so upfront in the original mix when sync is on. There’s definitely a reverby feel when the tracks are sync’d. I’m not desperately bothered by it, but some might be.
